SWOT Dataset of Marmara Municipalities Published
The dataset consisting of the Strengths-Weakness-Opportunities-Threats (SWOT) stated in the 2020-2024 Strategic Plans of the metropolitan and provincial municipalities in the Marmara Region of Türkiye has been published on the Open Data Portal of Marmara Municipalities Union (MMU).
The dataset has been prepared by the Data and Technology Center of MMU and covers the provinces of Istanbul, Kocaeli, Bursa, Balıkesir, Sakarya, Tekirdağ, Edirne, Çanakkale, Kırklareli, Bilecik, Yalova in the Marmara Region, as well as the provinces of Bolu and Düzce. The strategic plans prepared by the relevant 6 metropolitan and 7 provincial municipalities for the years 2020-2024 were examined and the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats (SWOT) stated by the municipalities were listed.
The data entries and classifications were made according to the indicator titles, namely "Municipal Name", "SWOT Category", "Municipalities Own Categorization", "Specified Situation", "Specified Situation Scale", "Categories", "Document Source", "Page Number", and "Access Date". For example, within the scope of the "Situation Specified Scale" indicator, the conditions which have an institutional character are classified as "Internal", issues concerning the city in general are classified as "About the City", and those that may concern/interest everyone or that are valid nationwide or worldwide are classified as "General".
In the "Categories" section, each situation specified by municipalities in their SWOT analyses are associated with at least one and at most four of the following categories: disaster, infrastructure, information technologies, environment, demography, disadvantaged groups, economy, physical capacity, migration, security, law, cooperation, communication, public space, participation, housing, coordination, culture, financial jobs, personnel, health, industry, tourism, transportation, management. The dataset is planned to be updated in 2025 for the Strategic Plans for the year 2025-2029.
